Work/Life Balance Issues

I've been working at a warehouse for an online retailer this week, and it looks like I'll be there through the Holiday Season. The schedule is 7-5 with an hour lunch break, so I'm getting an hour of OT each day. Plus they have everyone scheduled to work Saturdays. So 14 hours of overtime might be close to doubling my paycheck, which will be nice.

It's going to be rough, without a doubt. On the upside, with this being a seasonal temp job I am feeling far more willing to consider this kind of schedule, knowing it's only a short time issue, and not some standing expectation of the management.

I guess I would probably get something similar if I had stayed at Macy's, but after six months at that store, and the previous two years with the company, I already had enough and just didn't want to waste my time with them any longer. I did feel like I was having to do far more work at that store than I did at Southpoint, and my contributions were just not being highly regarded.

At the end of the day at the warehouse, I am exhausted, but I do feel like I'm being useful and appreciated, which counts for a lot on how I see the company.
